Be present with what is in reality such a short period of deep darkness. Find ways to enhance the opportunity to dream

MOON

In her waxing phase the moon is rising. This is the time for setting intentions and sowing seeds into the fertile dark. A time to initiate (not complete), to seed what you are calling into being. Think about the seeds you are keeping safe and warm this winter. Consider what direction they need to be planted and how you will give them what they need to take root. For now tend to them and keep them close imbuing them with strength and fortitude.

SUN

Sagittarius navigates us through the darkness, seeking the light. Slow and steady fire as we navigate confusion, upheavals and delays.

GODDESS GUIDANCE

The storm wisened staff of the Cailleach comes to laugh in the face of our inability to accept this time. She sweeps through to remind us of the power of Mother Nature and the inevitable shift in the wheel.

We return to the deep ancient knowing in our bones of the reindeer antlered goddess Elen of the Ways. Remember that El is an origin of light. She helps to guide us through the forest and stay assured and true on our path no matter how hard it becomes or lost we may feel. Call on her when you are in need

This week we move into the portal of 12:12. 12 is represented in the Celtic Tree Ogham by the Elder tree - a tree which, if we are respectful, can allow us to meet Elder Mother and travel with her. 12 is the final sign of the Zodiac in Pisces and represents the nebulous dream land of endings and beginnings. Much akin to the womb waters we originate from - this is a place of existing in suspension - a milky mermaid like world where we haven’t yet learnt separation. Pisces helps us to tap into dreamy states and play in the veils of water - expansive, soft, yet strong. The shadow side of Pisces speaks to illusion and allowing the dream to slip away. How comfortable are you with playing and allowing possibility, endings and new beginnings?

ALTAR

The fertile womb tomb, the void of creation. Placing seeds on your altar that you place in nests. Seeds that represent your dreams - known or space for more to drop in. Tend to them   

PRACTICE

Reflection is key ~ look how far you have come. Take a sacred pause. When we birth a baby we have something that has been coined ‘rest and be thankful’ that is the time before the baby descends and lands Earth-side. A sacred pause that is apparent in undisturbed birth (surges cease and the mother enters a dreamlike state) that allows the mother the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual out-breath to recognise that she has climbed the mountain. It is time to gather herself for the journey ahead. This time is the celestial equivalent. Even more so given that Mercury is really increasing the pause and inviting us to be fully present until the Gregorian New Year

JOURNAL

How can I practice acknowledgment in this time of pause for all that has come to be. Can I acknowledge the fruits of my labours? What am I grateful for? Can I surrender to the greater plan for my life given the soul work I have put in? Perhaps share these prompts with your closest community / family / friends to reflect and consider

FOLK HERBALISM WITH PLANT KIN

Make offerings to the ancient trees, grandmothers that sit as the gatekeepers to the sacred land convergences and usher in the rebirth. Pay close attention to the ‘death’ phase in natures cycle - meeting our tree and plant kin with new eyes and ask for their wisdom teachings to be revealed to you

Make the most of the final dreamtime gate of the year in the deepest darkness. Even if you don’t physically work with Amanita, this is the time to acknowledge that our ‘Hyperboreal’ Ancestors - the people ‘behind the North Winds’ would have enhanced their community dreams with Sacred Amanita Muscaria. The origins of Christmas and the red and white. The gifts down and up the chimney. Sacred hearth fires burning with community dreaming ritual. Female reindeer, once prevalent in these lands and in our ancient connection to the Tundra and Boreal forests, do not shed antlers and so are those that stay connected to spirit. The red and the white symbolism of the forest dwelling shamanas helping us connect to the red and the white - the power and the softness, the yin and the yang, the sacred marriage

Mugwort can support you into the dreamtime and will be particularly potent if intentionally worked with on a piscean moonscape (Mugwort and Amanita together is a powerful combination)

EMBODIMENT RITUAL

Creating an uninterrupted hibernation nest to dream in - whether you have five minutes or a long expanse - consciously find time to drop into this space without expectation and be with your primal bodies urge to nest and rest
