BELTANE TIDE
LIFE FORCE RISING
The Moon is waxing, the seasons are waxing
We find ourselves crossing over from the first quadrant of the maiden to the second quadrant of the maiden becoming the mother - as the moon rises, so does the energy of the year. At this cross quarter point we sit in a threshold of becoming. A time of sacred union and fecund energy may bear fruit. Thresholds tend to be choice points that offer us a fork in the road. Do we stick or twist? How do we employ our agency?
Beltane has activated the sacred sexual fire of the earth. The fire energy is active and pulsating in all of life. It can feel fractious and like a frenzy of busy activity
We are awakened to so much more light in our lives - light to see more, to connect more, the light that shines on more potential and possibility
Isn’t it incredible that every year without fail the energies follow this pathway - this pattern of elemental unfolding - we can cultivate a deep trust in the mother in her unwavering stability that is witnessed in her changes
With all the planets moving forwards we are experiencing life moving full thrust - on steroids - catching up since the retrogrades and fast forwarding us stratospherically towards the summer time
Growth is all around and so it is time for you to grow
Part of the work of growth is to strengthen
At Beltane especially - the time of the lovers - the emphasis is on strengthening the heart and the system with which it works - our cardiovascular network. Beltane energy is heavy with fire and blood and like the DNA strand with its opposing but interlinked energy currents rising in a double helix. Blood and its ancestral mysteries flowing as our inner rivers through our sacred circuitry.
Hawthorn flowers and berries restore vitality in the heart and the blood vessels - it can literally repair their cellular walls. If you have low blood pressure avoid over doing it as it can reduce blood pressure further. Emotionally it also shores up the heart which is heavy with emotion - bringing restoration and calm. Hawthorn also has a more mysterious side - a trickster if you will - that can lure you into fun and frivolity - but at what cost? Is lust and desire masked as love?

MOON
In her waxing phase the moon is rising and is in the quarter moon phase in Leo. With a Taurus / Leo axis we can consider how we are seen and Earthed in Love - Love could be in any spectrum of its meaning - from friendly plutonic love to soul mate love and all that is in between. Since we are in the season of The Lovers - it makes sense to be in a subconscious deep dive of how we are received in Love in the Beltane fires of sacred union

What cycles are we to revisit in this cycle of the ‘lord of the underworld’ as he journeys back through the sign of the electrical, humanitarian, visionary

ALTAR
The greening of the land is upon us and we can celebrate the life giving abundance and rich medicine that is supporting us. Traditionally in these lands we work with red, white and green as the archetypal colours of this season
SEASON
Taurus is all about Earthly embodiment - so what is showing up for you in your body? How are you being called into the Earth realm of your own eco system? How can you support and nourish yourself on every level as the energies rise?
PRACTICE
Fires of purification and flames of passion
Consider jumping the Beltane flame - even over a simple candle in the earth - clear your mind and allow the fire to do its work. I prefer to not hold a wish or desire but rather to allow the purifying of the fire to create space needed for the seeds I have planted to grow if they are meant to

Lemon Balm
This delightful and powerful herb is an amazing support for feeling fractured and frazzled. She has scented high notes that makes her easy to identify in the family of mints. She both uplifts as well as calms. Again this speaks to the sacred marriage of harmony and balance. By now she is abundant in the herb garden and brings a heady delight as well as a grounded calming energy to support us to meet the challenges of all of this fire power
Tenacious Dandelion is now out in full force - consider making a dandelion honey or continuing to taste in salads - at the very least - let her grow and share her rich healing properties with the land. Like Leo, unapolagetic dandelion shines
Wild garlic is still available and now we see more of the pink Lady’s Smocks - these tender buds pack a punch as our native mustard / horseradish (just pick the petals and make sure you avoid the ones that have the precious eggs of the orange tipped butterfly that only lays on this plant )
Can you feel the land pulsing with life?!

RITUAL
The druids used honey and milk to show offerings to the land in exchange for their harvests. Consider using honey in a ritual such a face or body mask and lean into the goddess invocation as you annoint yourself with the honey nectar of the bee priestesses. See how much love goes into the creation of all things and bless yourself. Acknowledge yourself as a divine creatrix and honey bee of the hive of your life.
