The 1st February was traditionally marked as Brighid’s feast day but Imbolc, the ancient festival is a tide, a portal if you will. It is a changeable annual cross quarter fire festival. It ‘crosses’ betwixt and between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. True Imbolc, or celestial imbolc, is traditionally marked by the full moon closest to Brighids feast day.

There is a fire in our bellies and this full moon is stirring it, calling us gently forward, Leo igniting our bravery to emerge beyond the confines of winter.

Allowing our throats to open and release tension is a vital practice as we clear lineages of blocked ancestral oppression

Combine the air and fire this full moon and let us hear your inner lioness roar!

If it feels confronting to allow your sacred sound to flow then take pen to paper and scribe what flows through you. Try to drop out of your head and into your heart with no agenda.

Like the lioness be courageous. The latin root of courage is cor which means heart. Is their concord - harmony or discord - conflict?

EMBODIMENT

Embody your lioness energy through a non linear movement practice. With big cat energy reach out your paws and pad with them, roll and move with fierce abandon.

RITUAL

Create a simple fire ceremony. I find that personal ceremony allows us to co-create in such a way as to deepen our connection to our ourselves. So I will offer little guidance as to exactly how you should go about this apart from to be entirely led by your own intuition and see what magic unfolds. Drop in and allow yourself to gaze at the shapeshifting flames and see what comes through for you.

The full moon is also a traditional time to work with water magic and imbue water with the rays of the full moon. It can be especially helpful to work with water during a fire moon to balance the elemental energies. If possible set a bottle of water outside or on a window ledge to imbue the water overnight before imbibing the next day. Water molecules shape-shift with your intention and words so pay attention to what you ask the water to support you with.

INVOCATION

Call upon the elemental spirit of fire and connect with any appropriate fire goddess or deity that you are drawn to. (There are many!) Brighid is the fire goddess of these lands that presides over the sacred flame.

Should you be experiencing a particularly challenging time and feel as though you are literally being forged in the fire you may wish to connect with the support from your spirit team. Always remembering to seek support from those allies that love, honour and respect you.

If you aren’t sure where to begin call on the support of a guardian fire animal such as the Salamander who can withstand the flames or the pheonix who rises from the ashes rebirthed anew.
