The Swan Song of the Earth

Here in the Northern Hemisphere we are able to have so much relationship to the seasons. For those with a Celtic or Norse lineage, we connect to the Death season through the Queen of Death archetypes. To deny her presence through fear is to not only deny a part of our fundamental nature but also to veil her power. The power of the Womb as Tomb.

The 11:11 gateway that we have just stepped through has always been a powerful activation for me. Both my grandfather and my father slipped through the veil in this week. There is something in this feminine receptive softening that happens at this time. I am an 11 baby - I was born after Imbolc on the 11th. For years I would acknowledge the amazing light codes that would seemingly be present in the Samhain portal. And the ‘new year’ has always been the time when my holding at the threshold feels most present. It was illuminated for me when I read Seren & Azra Bertrand’s amazing tome Womb Awakening where they share their research and experiences on the ancient Swan Feast of 11th November in these lands. She further touches on it and deepens into it in her books Spirit Weaver and Magdalene Mysteries. If you feel called to understand more about the Swan priestesses and their ancient rites, particularly from a Celtic angle, I highly recommend reading these incredible wisdom keepers. For me the notion of the mythology of the Swan Priestess is for more than a story and is deeply representative of my work as a threshold keeper. In the wheel of the priestess Scorpio represents the Queen of Death

The Queen who can journey to the quiet solitude of the underworld

A place where in the quietude she unravels into the soft dark earth, weaving her dream prayers into being and reweaving herself anew

The crumbling mycelia between her fingers is a welcome sensory pleasure, rich in its wisdom

Scorpio represents the aspect of ourselves that does not fear the darkness, the mystery or not knowing

In fact it speaks to seership, to gnosis and sight beyond seeing

In the darkness, the solitude and the silence we are gifted with clear vision ~ our third eye is activated and we can be deeply discerning

Scorpio has a bit of a reputation for being a stinger, and yet with that sting there can be such powerful truth telling, such embodied activation, such clarity

Remembering the great mother in her wisdom as she travels into fertility on the other side of the world as this side travels into the death portal for rebirth

Hearth Craft

Intentional candle craft and lantern creation

Making candles with intention for calling in support and healing from our elders and land spirits. For lighting the way in this darkest quadrant. Helping us to ‘see in the dark’. Traditionally candles in the windows at a port or harbour town created a guiding light for sailors and fishermen out in wintery and treacherous seas before lighthouses were built. Keeping our home fires burning refers to us being a port in the storm and connected in a web of light. Blessing the path for our kin as we go.

The darkness unveiled in this season speaks to the shadow aspects that we keep veiled, hidden, diminished for fear of the shame that they evoke. Tenderly working with our shadow realms enables us to face the so called dragon dimension and alchemise the pain into our power. To remineralise the roots and come alive with the truth that is so needed for our connected collective to heal
