WATER
In the direction of the West we surrender to the elemental power of water in the waning cycle of the moon. After stoking the Fire we surrender to the alchemy that is born by combining these elemental forces. We invite the intention to purify, clear and soften ~ releasing what has been shown to us in the apex of the moon cycle.
Consider how you relate to this element within this season?

Blessings of Ostara
In the wheel of the year we turn to the direction of the East - to the pagan festival Ostara. Oestre is the Germanic goddess of Spring that presides over this time of year. The word Estrogen is derived from her name. The rising sun at dawn in the East - the direction of the Maiden and the fire of Menarche - our first moon blood power
In the bible story, prior to Jesus’s resurrection he is said to travel for 40 days and 40 nights on a pilgrimage of trust, preparation and transition - a time of purification, transformation and spiritual growth is upon him. It is said that this is why after a woman undergoes childbirth the best practice is for her to rest for this period of time whilst she is reborn
How has the altar of your being been stirred in this first Eclipse? How are you clear on the reckoning that has presented itself and what is it that needs tending in order to rebirth you?
All processes take time and are no linear - despite what we have instilled in us by society - our growth is not a clear upward trajectory but rather a gentle ramble
As the moon takes her out-breath how do you mirror this and what are you releasing?
A word on Spring cleanses - you may have noticed just how many fiery plants come to support our digestion - nettle, wild garlic and magnolia to name a few. The initial foray into supporting our system to awaken should be warm and slow - it’s too cold to jump into hard core cold juices and will stress your adrenals and in turn nervous system
INCANTATION
“I open to all possibilities”
FORAGING
Continue to connect with the plant medicine being offered by the earth mother to support our awakening. Have you managing to find Cleavers, Nettle and Dandelion? Be sure to look for those that are not near roadsides, dog walking areas, or have been sprayed.
Venture further to see what may be awaiting you. How can you support these to grow and thrive as bountiful medicine - can you object to local spraying or plant some in your garden? Perhaps there is a wild allotment that would support these allies? These offerings are potent and so alive in season as opposed to that which we can get manufactured and dried.
Have you found Wild Garlic (or ‘Ransoms’) yet? Always be careful to inspect the leaves and ensure that no lookalikes are in your grasp. For example Lily of the Valley is extremely toxic and Wild Garlic likes to grow with Lords and Ladies which are extremely toxic. Don’t be deterred, just utilise knowledge and wisdom to stoke curiosity and learn respect for the plant kin and their medicine. Wild garlic leaves will have the tell tale smell of garlic when rubbed or you can wait until they flower to be sure
RECIPES
Wild Garlic Pesto
Combine wild garlic, nettle, olive oil, pine nuts, parmesan and sea salt for a delicious and warming pesto. Alternatively steam the wild garlic like Spinach to take the punch out and eat as your steamed greens.
If you are lucky enough to have a mature Magnolia you can take the blooms before they burst open and pickle them - preferably in Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother and enjoy a hot pickle experience. Otherwise just try them raw - they are unexpectedly feisty for such beautiful blooms!
The next unfolding is the new moon solar eclipse on Monday 8th April ~ I look forward to travelling on the path with you all
